OTTAWA, ON - 14 March, 2008-- The NorthStar division (Harris NorthStar) of Harris Computer Systems announced today that the City of Benicia, CA went live on NorthStar CIS version 6 on 5 November, 2007. Harris NorthStar's successful implementation integrated the NorthStar CIS with Benicia's Bi-Tech v7.5 fund-accounting software, MVRS meter reading software and Itron meter readers. "Working with the City of Benicia to bring them through this implementation period was a rewarding experience," said Ken Hayes, Director of Sales for Harris NorthStar. Benicia's Water and Wastewater Treatment Operations departments serve over 8,000 customers. It has a treatment capacity of 12 million gallons per day. Its transmission network includes two pump stations and approximately 18 miles of pipeline. The distribution system consists of 3 pump stations, 8 pressure-reducing stations, and approximately 150 miles of pipelines. The storage system consists of 5 treated water reservoirs and Lake Herman with a capacity of 1,800 acre feet. Benicia's Wastewater Treatment collection system consists of 24 lift stations, approximately 150 miles of sewer pipelines, a 3-mile wet weather relief (interceptor) pipeline, and 6 wet weather control structures.
