NorthStar CIS Live at Whitby Hydro Utilities

OTTAWA, ON - 21 May 2008 -- The NorthStar division (Harris NorthStar) of Harris Computer Systems (Harris) is pleased to announce that Whitby Hydro is now live on the NorthStar CIS system. Whitby Hydro upgraded to NorthStar CIS from an earlier version of Harris NorthStar's legacy application (NorthStar 5.2.19) that had been in place there for a number of years. This successful upgrade implementation is part of Harris NorthStar's ongoing campaign to migrate its customer base onto the Java-based NorthStar CIS solution. Whitby Hydro is located in the city of Whitby, ON (pop. 111 184) on the north shore of Lake Ontario between Oshawa and Ajax in the Greater Toronto Area. The utility, which supplies electrcity to an area of approximately 120 square kilometers, was established in 1903 and is one of the oldest public utilities in Ontario. "The Harris Implementation Team have been very responsive to our issues and to resolving them in a timely manner," said Avril White of Whitby Hydro. "Our decision to move to NorthStar CIS at this time was in preparation of Whitby Hydro's Smart meter implementation program and to prepare for the additional billing and meter reading changes coming our way in near future."
